My client is a designer, developer, and manufacturer of products used to manage and improve the lives of folks with certain chronic health conditions. The products are hand-held and mechanical. The most common material in these products is plastic.
They are beginning to search for several Development engineers with advanced degrees to begin working on several new and developing product lines. Some of your work will, indeed, be blue sky research, but most of it will be applied research on products in the development stream.
Your design work will be focused on product improvement with a strong eye on quality improvement, cost analysis, and cost reduction. You will use Six Sigma tools (DFSS), DOE, and statistical programs (Minitab). This is clearly a design and development engineering position, and, while you will not be chained to a CAD station all day, you will be expected to do some direct design work using a solid modeling package. (They use SolidWorks but any modern package will do). The products in this case are related to infusion sets, so any infusion set, or auto transfusion devices in your background would be great.
Oh, I know it goes with the territory, but just to be sure, test fixture design is also one of your duties.
Our client is one of the most solid medical device companies in the area, in fact, in the country. This is a major upgrade for the engineering staff. They are a great company, and they'll give you a lot of opportunity to show your stuff. Get in touch with me, and let me fill you in on the details.
